three days trekking, starting from the small village
of Pancasila near Calabai take you through dense
rain forest and on to huge and awesome crater.
Mount Tambora, which is noted as being the center of
the largest eruption in recorded history, dominates
the northern peninsula of SUMBAWA. It is 2,851
meters high, heavily wooded, and surrounded by a
thick belt of rain forest - a strange contrast to
the aridity of remainder of peninsula.
Climbs up to the monstrous Tambora crater begin
from, and can be arranged at the small village of
Pancasila located at the based of the mountain, a
short distance from CALABAI.
The Tambora trek necessities camping two nights in a
rain forest and one night close to the summit. While
the climb are never overly steep or risky, climbers
have to be prepared for the minor discomfort
of the rain forest walk that often includes leeches.
The truly awesome crater is one of the most
spectacular sight in Indonesia.
Day
One : LOMBOK – SUMBAWA BESAR
After breakfast at the hotel, driving through east
road of heading up Labuhan Lombok and using 1,5
hours slow ferry crossing to Potonano then drive to
Sumbawa Besar and overnight in Kencana hotel. (B,L,D).
Day
Two : SUMBAWA – MOYO ISLAND CONSERVATION
After early breakfast at your hotel, just step your
feet to the front beach of your hotel then you can
sailing by outrigger boat to the moyo island, you
need about 2
hours sailing, during the sailing times you will
enjoying to see a lot of flying fish, admiring
panorama, tanjung menangis beach, enjoy swaying wave
etc. catching the moyo island get your rest few
minutes to have soft drink and enjoy views, the
beach was white sandy beach and clear crystal sea
water, the Moyo island is untouched able places to
discover and just few foreign guests have been to
here. For the first day here you can spare your
visiting to see some wild birds, it's lot nice
voices of wild bird can be hearing here, and it's
wild home of pigs, lizards, 21 species of bats,
large herd of local deer and hordes of crab-eating
and macaques monkeys. Do the first visiting like
local hunter photographer of wild animal.
And
you'll have spectacular snorkeling here, comparing
the snorkeling around Indonesia beaches, moyo has
different interesting area to discovered, the coral
reef is still alive with some various colors,
turtles is easy to see here, lot of variety of fish,
and lot thing to do again for snorkeling by your
self knowledge. The moyo island is only island here
you need to order lunch box and your equipments to
snorkeling.
Day
Three : SUMBAWA REGENCY to DOMPU REGENCY
After early breakfast at your hotel, just on the way
to the Bima about 5 hours driving you'll have shot
city sightseeing tour like Tano traditional hand
weaving, the palace of Sumbawa just the next also
you'll see the museum of Sumbawa in city area, and
local market, afterwards a drive to Empang whilst
visiting the Labuan Jambu traditional fishing
village and the biggest place to product salt sea
water. During the times also let see nice hilly
views and lot monkey to see. Over night at PANCASILA
VILLAGE.
Day
Four : PANCASILA VILLAGE – POS III
After breakfast starting for trekking cross
rainforest jungle to Pos 3, this route sometimes
have avoid with leeches, trekking will be takan 6
to 7 hours, if possible will continue trekking to
Pos 4. Overnight at tent. (B,L,D)
Day
Five : POS 3 – TAMBORA RIM AND SUMMIT
Very early morning trek to summit of mount Tambora
with elevation 2815 m, the largest crater in the
world, last eruption at 1815, dramatic sunrise on
the top of Mount Tambora then back to Pos 3 for
relaxing and overnight at Pos 3. (B,L,D)
Day
Six: POS 3 – PANCASILA – DOMPU for Overnight
After breakfast, clean up camp. Starting for back to
Pancasila using same route, afternoon will be
arrival in Pancasila then driving to hotel at Dompu.
Dinner and Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day
Seven: DOMPU REGENCY – GILI AIR ISLAND
In
the morning drive back to Lombok Island, arrival
Lombok, directly transfer to Gili Air island for
your own water sport activities such as :
Snorkeling, Sun Bathing and Swimming. Overnight at
Sun Rise Hotel. (B,L,D)
Day Eight: GILI AIR ISLAND
After breakfast at the hotel, free at your own
leisure.
Day Nine : GILI AIR ISLAND – AIRPORT
After breakfast at the hotel, free at your own
leisure till time to drop of to the Airport for your
next destination.
